Business Casual

It was Casual Friday, and Franklin had dressed with intention.

He sat in his car outside the office, hands gripping the steering wheel, watching his colleagues arrive in their jeans and polo shirts. They walked past without looking, unaware that inside this quiet car sat a man in white satin puffed sleeves, a Peter Pan collar catching the morning light. His green silk dungarees whispered when he shifted in his seat. White hose, green pumps—the whole outfit absurd and beautiful and completely, irrevocably him.

He had never done this before. Never dared.

But today, the rules were different. Casual Friday had always meant dressing down, but Franklin had decided it meant something else entirely: dressing true.

He checked his reflection in the rearview mirror. The blouse was ridiculous, the kind of thing you'd find in a vintage shop, the kind of thing he'd walked past a hundred times thinking that's not for you. But today it was his. Today it was exactly for him.

There was no policy against satin. No employee handbook clause prohibiting silk or Peter Pan collars. No rule that said a man couldn't wear what felt like armor made of light.

Franklin opened the car door, stepped out, and walked toward the building with the quiet confidence of someone who had finally stopped asking permission.

No one looked twice. No one said a word.
